Ever since joining the New Zealand government as a graduate economist,
I have lived in the twilight zone between business people and
technology people. I bring a story-telling ethic to the binary
precision of IT, and a practical understanding of machines to the world
of business.
I have worked in public service, multi-nationals, start-ups, small
business and consulting, and enjoyed them all. America, UK, Europe,
Australasia - I appreciate the differences. Coal-mining, energy
production, electronics, computer manufacture, financial services,
industrial psychology, marketing and advertising, and most recently publishing -
I learn fast.
Agile methods of software and product development have been central to
my success this century, coupled with a growing understanding of the
philosophy of Lean and the application to business and organisations.
And having cleaned up a lot of shit in my time, there is little that daunts me.
Change management, technology, Lean, agile development, branding, marketing, economics, the human capital thing, leadership, internet, web 2.0, merger chaos, planning, and most of all - listening.
